Leadership ♦ Vision ♦ Transparency
I was the northwest side organizer for “students for harold Washington.”
I organized the first Northwest Side rally for then mayoral candidate Congressman Harold Washington at Northeastern Illinois University in 1983.
My wife and i were the visionaries behind the innovative hybrid and current academic focus of the new westinghouse high school
When CPS threatened not to construct the new building, my wife and I successfully led the effort to rebuild the school with 40% of the construction contract going to minority and women contractors.
I joined other community residents and businesses in advocating for transparency concerning the sale of the closed emmet school
When the alderman attempted to promote a proposed “sweetheart deal” for Emmet developers without input from the community and Madison Street businesses, I helped to organize stakeholders to demand transparency.
